On a voice vote, with Johnson and state Rep. Percy Watson, D-Hattiesburg, voting no,  Senate Bill was passed out of the House Judiciary A Committee. The Senate bill was doubled referred to the House Judiciary A Committee and the Ports, Harbors and Airports Committee.

Ford was a leader among the group of House members who were elected in November 1979 and took office in January 1980, said one member of that class, Rep. Percy Watson, D-Hattiesburg. “He was a leader of the group from day one,” Watson said.

Aug 23, 2014: Clarion Ledger: Legal aid funding for Miss.’s poor declining
Former Gov. Ronnie Musgrove, co-chairman of the fundraising campaign, thanked Mississippi Chief Justice Bill Waller Jr., Presiding Justice Jess Dickinson and state Rep. Percy Watson for their support of legislation that will add funding for civil legal assistance. House Bill 579, which addressed funding at several levels of the judiciary, includes a $2.77 special assessment on some misdemeanor fines, generating money for the Civil Legal Assistance Fund. The legislation went into effect July 1.

HB 169, "The Fair Pay Act of 2014," would require employers to pay equivalent pay for equivalent jobs, not discriminating because of sex, race or national origin and to protect employees seeking to enforce equal pay from retaliation from their employers. The bills' sponsors are: HB 169, Rep. Bob Evans, D-Monticello; HB 193, Rep. David Baria, D-Bay St. Louis; HB 197, Rep. Sherra Lane, D-Waynesboro; HB 1151, Rep. Percy Watson, D-Hattiesburg.
