Rance Bedwell is  a christian and has been involved in volunteer ministry for almost 20 years. He served as minister of education and then as children’s minister at Faith Memorial Baptist Church in Poplarville from approximately 1998 to 2001. In 2007, he was ordained as a minister of the gospel by Northside Baptist Church in Slidell, LA and served as assistant pastor of Light by the Lake Family Church from 2007 to 2010.

He have been volunteering with the Mississippi State Guard since 2013 and currently holds the rank of second lieutenant.He has  served as the secretary and then the chairman of the Pearl River County republican party.
