Jackson County residents have elected Joseph Seymour as the state senate of District 47. The runoff election between Seymour and Mike Tyson has all of the precincts counted. Seymour took 1376 votes to Tyson’s 232.

On a state level, Mike Tyson, who received 1,218 votes in the primary election, will race against J.M. ‘Mike’ Seymour with 514 votes for the Senate District 47 seat.

In Republican senate races: Jenifer Branning & Mark Forsman head to a run-off for the seat of retiring Senator Giles Ward (Senate 18); Chris Caughman won outright with 57 percent for the seat of retiring Senator Perry Lee; Joseph Seymour and Mike Tyson fight it out in a run-off to replace Senator Tony Smith (Senate 47) who ran for Southern District Public Service Commissioner; and Senator Will Longwitz (Senate 25) fended off a challenge from Bill Billingsley.
