In 2014, the association spent over $23,000 to send 15 lawmakers and the state's insurance and banking commissioners to the same convention.

If passed, House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 22 would give place a constitutional amendment requiring a balanced state budget on the 2015 ballot. However, the bill authored by Rep. Mark Formby (Pearl River) failed to receive the necessary two-thirds of the House vote. A motion to reconsider has been made and the House may be vote on the measure again.

I believe that most of the parents I represent would still vaccinate their children against certain diseases," Formby said. "What I do believe is that we allow parents to make some pretty incredible decisions in their children's lives.... But in Mississippi we don't allow them to make this incredibly huge decision about how many vaccinations they're going to get."

If passed this bill would provide that any federal law which attempts to ban a semi-automatic firearm or attempts to limit the size of a magazine of a firearm shall be unenforceable in the State of Mississippi. This is one of the most important bills introduced.
