Finally, Joce Pritchett is running for State Auditor, an office that hasn’t exactly been a corruption detector in this state, if the DMR scandal is any indication. Pritchett might sound familiar to you, as she should, considering that she’s not only an openly gay candidate, but one of the plaintiffs that successfully caused the overturning of the same sex marriage ban in Mississippi. Needless to say, she’s going to get some attention. I also asked her why she decided to run. She said, “I’m running because I’m tired of watching the old-guard establishment wreck our state. Mississippi deserves elected officials who care more about Mississippians than their own pockets. We’ve seen scandal after scandal in our county governments and state agencies because the state auditor has been asleep at the wheel. I’m running because I want to make mississippi a better place for my family and everyone else’s, too.” See a pattern?
