May 5, 2015: WTOK: Vowing to Veto: Meridian's Mayor on Voting Precinct Changes
"We've had several open meetings," says Jeff Tate, who is the president for the Lauderdale County Election Commission. "We had minutes at these meetings. We've even had public hearings on these changes, and no one has voiced their concerns." "We initially considered this issue on March 31st during our work session," says Markham. "The council, all five of us, were on board then. We saw that the mayor had some concerns then. So, instead of putting it on the April 7th agenda, I held it for 30 days. I asked that he (Mayor Bland) get with Mr. Tate, the election commission president, and have some of his concerns addressed over that 30 days, and I placed it on the agenda for this meeting on May 5th."
