Two weeks ago Alday became nationally condemned for his remarks viciously demeaning disadvantaged local black citizens. In an interview with reporter Jerry Mitchell of The Clarion-Ledger, Alday had said "I come from a town where all blacks are getting food stamps and what I call 'welfare crazy checks.' They don't work."

On November 8, 2011, Alday won election toDistrict 25 of the Mississippi House of Representatives. He ran unopposed in the August 2 primary and defeated Democratic incumbent John Mayo in the November 8 general election.
