House Bill 1013, sponsored by Reps. Brad Mayo (District 12), Randall Patterson (District 115) and John W. Hines, Sr. (District 50), designates routes in Lafayette and Union Counties as the “William Faulkner Scenic Byway.” It begins at the intersection of Hwy. 30 and County Road 14 in Union County and continues west along Hwy. 30 to its intersection with County Road 229 in Lafayette County.

Thanking State Sen. Gray Tollison and State Rep. Brad Mayo for their lead role in the funding legislation, Lafayette County Board of Supervisors President Jeff Busby said, “The West Oxford Loop expansion and the Sisk Avenue expansion are just two examples of the positive outcomes that working together can bring to our community. … I look forward to the traffic relief coming our way.”

Brad Mayo is a native of Oxford and a graduate of Oxford High School and Ole Miss. He represents District 12 in the Mississippi House of Representatives. Brad serves on the Education, Fees and Salaries of Public Officials, Insurance, Medicaid, Public Health and Human Services, Universities & Colleges, and Ways & Means Committees. He is one of only a few of freshmen to ever be appointed to the Ways and Means Committee.
Brad owns a financial and investment advising firm. He served for five years under Governor Haley Barbour and as a Special Projects director in state government. Previously, Brad was Alderman for Ward VI in the City of Oxford. Brad was one of two aldermen to serve on the project team that led to Winchester creating 1,000 new jobs in Lafayette County. He also used his financial experience and his experience in state government to work with the Mayor and aldermen to develop the City's Rainy Day and Trust Fund.
Brad and his wife Kathleen have a daughter and two sons. He is a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oxford. Brad is a member of the Rotary Club, the Tommy Tosh Memorial Scholarship Committee, and the Oxford-Lafayette School of Applied Technology Advisory Board. He has previously served on the boards of the local University of Mississippi Alumni Association and the American Heart Association. Brad is an Eagle Scout.
