But Rep. Joey Hood, R-Ackerman, said both Republican Gov. Phil Bryant and Democratic Attorney General Jim Hood supported the legislation. Joey Hood said the bill was needed because efforts were being made by opponents of the death penalty to acquire the names of those involved in executions to make it more difficult to carry out the death penalty.
