In all, 10 coast legislators were given chairman positions, including Jackson County legislators Hank Zuber, John Read, Jeff Guice and Charles Busby. Zuber was reappointed chairman of the Banking & Financial Services committee, while Busby was named chair of the Transportation committee -- two of the largest and most influential committees in the House. Additionally, Read will chair the Conservation committee, which will oversee appropriation of BP settlement money.

His amendment also included provisions from a bill authored by Rep. Hank Zuber of Ocean Springs, also from Jackson County. Zuber’s language included the necessary transparency regarding hospital employee pensions.
