Nathan Burl Cain (born July 2, 1942) is the commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Corrections and the former warden at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola in West Feliciana Parish, north of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He worked there for twenty-one years, from January 1995 until his resignation in 2016.

Burl Cain, a former Louisiana prison warden, became commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Corrections in May 2020 and vowed to improve conditions at Parchman. Since then, the department has moved some inmates to other prisons. Kathy L. Chism (born August 22, 1957) is an American politician who has served in the Mississippi State Senate from the 3rd district since 2020. Chism has worked in several occupations, including as a realtor, auctioneer, and business owner. During a school board meeting this week, the Board of Trustees named John Ellison as the new superintendent of the Houston and Chickasaw County school districts.
Ellison will replace current Superintendent Tony Cook who will retire at the end of the fall semester to pursue other opportunities, WTVA-TV reported. Cook has served the Houston District since 2005. He previously worked in Pontotoc and Amory school districts.
