And Agriculture Commissioner Cindy Hyde-Smith is being challenged by Democrat Addie Lee Green and Reform candidate Cathy Toole.
​Addie Lee Green previously served as ​Bolton, Mississippi's election commissioner and as a city alderwoman. She attended Utica Junior College and Jackson State University, where she studied sociology. Green's career experience includes working at Packard Electric for over 30 years. At Packard Electric, she helped establish the International Union of Electronic, Electrical, Salaried, Machine and Furniture Workers (IUE) and served as IUE 968 president. She has been associated with the Jackson NAACP.
​Green ran unsuccessfully in 2015 for the post of agriculture commissioner. She has served on the Board of Aldermen in Bolton and is a local election commissioner. Former board member of Hinds County Resource, past president Alcohol Services Center and board member.  ​She is on the state’s Democratic Party Executive Committee. Green is a member of Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Bolton.
Nov 5, 2019: ​Green lost in the general election for Mississippi treasurer.  Republican David McRae won a decisive victory earning 61% of the vote statewide and 69% of the vote in DeSoto County, defeating Addie Lee Green. ​
